MY NAME IS FLÁVIA GHIROTTO SANTOS.
I’M AN ARCHITECT, COMPUTATIONAL DESIGNER, AND RESEARCHER WITH EXPERIENCE IN HIGH-END PROJECTS ACROSS EUROPE, THE AMERICAS, ASIA, AND THE MIDDLE EAST. I WORK IN A RANGE OF DIVERSE FIELDS, BUT THE FOCUS OF MY WORK AND INTERESTS LIES ON EMERGENT TECHNOLOGIES, PARAMETRIC, GENERATIVE AND COMPUTATIONAL DESIGN, WITH A STRONG FOCUS ON SUSTAINABILITY, MATERIAL CIRCULARITY, AND REGENERATIVE ARCHITECTURE.

Based in Belgium, I am the founder of FLV’AIA, a design and research studio dedicated to computational methodologies and speculative design. Alongside my independent practice, I work at A2M Architecture, leading computational design strategies, environmental analysis, and innovation-driven workflows, ensuring a seamless integration of sustainability and advanced digital methodologies in architectural practice.

Previously, I spent eight years as Lead Designer at Zaha Hadid Architects in London, where I played a key role in concept design, complex geometries, and computational strategies across large-scale international projects. I have also collaborated with studios such as Minimaforms (London/UK) and Universal Assembly Unit (London/UK), and co-led my own practice, Guerra Ghirotto Arquitetura, in São Paulo.

I hold a Master’s degree from the Architectural Association’s Design Research Lab (AADRL) in London and a Bachelor’s degree from FAAP in São Paulo. My expertise extends to digital fabrication, rapid prototyping, and interdisciplinary research, continuously exploring new ways to push the boundaries of architecture and design.

I am highly experienced in Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, Maya, Processing, and Arduino, as well as BIM and CAD platforms such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Vectorworks. My workflow integrates environmental analysis tools like Ladybug Tools (Honeybee, Butterfly, Dragonfly), EnergyPlus, and parametric simulation strategies for sustainable and climate-responsive design. Additionally, I have extensive knowledge of VRay, Enscape, Maxwell, D5, and Keyshot for visualization, alongside Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro) for graphic and motion design.

More recently, I have been exploring Artificial Intelligence as a tool for design and creative workflows, incorporating Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, ControlNet, and ChatGPT into generative processes, automation, and architectural visualization. My research also extends into AI-driven parametric modeling and data-informed design strategies, expanding the possibilities of computational design through emerging technologies.
